Frequenty Asked Questions

This section answers some frequently-asked questions about permanent makeup – also sometimes referred to as semi-permanent makeup.

What is Permanent Make-up?

Permanent Make-up is cosmetic technique, which is a totally safe form of cosmetic tattooing in which permanent pigments are implanted into the dermal layer of the skin in almost any colour of your choice. Even if you only want a very subtle look, permanent make-up will enhance your natural features and you still have the option of conventional make-up to change your look to suit any occasion.

Who can have Permanent Make-up?

Most people from the young to the mature who desire a soft, natural enhancement to their appearance. Clients include: people who continually use a brow pencil due to over plucking or illness; people with allergies to conventional make-up; people who wear contact lens/glasses; those who are unable to apply their own make. During your consultation, Luisa will discuss with you specifically which treatments will suit you best taking into account your facial features, skin tone, expectations and choose pigment colours to complement your natural beauty. Luisa will also carry out a pigment patch test in order to make sure that you are not allergic to anything.

Will I feel any discomfort?

A few days following the procedure, a light crust will form over the treated area and it may feel quite itchy. During this time the area will look a lot darker, but over the next few days this crust will flake off and is common for the colour to lighten by up to 50%. You will receive a healing balm which should be used 3 times daily on the treated area for 7 days. You will need to avoid water on the treated area for the duration of the healing.

How long does it last?

This can vary with each individual, dependent on age, skin type, lifestyle and how well you look after your permanent make-up enhancement. Although colour can last up to 2 years, the colour gradually continues to get lighter over time as the skin rejuvenates. It is recommended to maintain the fresh look of the treatment, a colour boost procedure should be carried out every 6- 12 months.

Are there medical forms to fill out?

Yes. All consent and medical forms must be completely filled out before your actual procedure. You will receive a Pre-Procedure Information/aftercare advice Form.
